On the Railway...
Adam Dojs was born on the 20th of December 1925 in Poznan, Poland.
Like so many other children born in the years between the wars in Poland, Adam's childhood was interrupted by world events. On the 1st of September 1939 Nazi Germany invaded Poland and the city of Poznan was quickly overrun. As a boy of 13, Adam was too young to be forced to fight for the occupying nazi army, but too old to simply stay at home, so he began helping his father at work - at a railway station.
It was while Adam was working at a station that he was contacted by local resistance fighters. They were looking for someone to help pass information about transports and passengers. This was only the beginning of his work with the resistance.
